About Oro House Recovery Centers

Oro House is an award-wining inpatient and outpatient treatment center with locations in southern California. Oro House is a winner of Newsweek’s ‘Best Addiction Treatment Centers,’ placing #1 in Los Angeles and Malibu, and is a recipient of the Joint Commission’s prestigious ‘Gold Seal of Approval®.’ We are dedicated to healing those struggling with drug and alcohol addiction as well as underlying mental health issues.

We offer all levels of care at our facilities—including initial crisis intervention, detoxification, residential, outpatient, sober living and and aftercare treatment, and accept most PPO insurance.

Since our establishment in 2010 as Oro House Recovery Centers, we have grown into one of the most successful non-12-step, dual-diagonosis rehab treatment facilities in California, with a documented high rate of success and countless satisfied clients and their families.

Oro House has emerged as a leading voice for reforms in the approach to addiction treatment—courtesy of our pioneering Compassionate Care Model® for mental health and addiction dual diagnosis treatment.

“I want to treat addicts with dignity, love, and compassion. I’m going to be honest with them. I’m not going to be mad at them if they don’t like what I’m trying to help them accomplish. If they fail or stumble or are defiant, I’m not going to get into arguments with them. I just want to love, help, encourage, nurture, and steer people in a more positive direction of life.”

Our Mission

The mission of Oro House Recovery Centers is to combine ultra high quality clinical care with the big heartedness that has made us famous for ten years. We work to empower our clients, to help them tap into their inate but often hidden ability to heal and thrive, and to feel a profound sense of belonging and worth, through the support of a loving community. Our motto is “connection, not control,” as opposed to the conventional approach to treatment, which can be punitive and condescending.

For us, drugs are a very small part of our problem. So rather than attempt to force abstinence on our clients, we engage with them and work in partnership with them to get to the root of their emotional pain, which is usually the result of adverse childhood experiences. We seek to transmute this pain into something new, a sense of peace and purpose that they can then use to help others and contribute to the world. Our secret is genuine care, expressed through empathy and compassion, combined with the evidence-based therapies that have proven to be succesful.

We believe that our approach is the antidote for the disconnection and alientation that typifies substance use disorders and mental health conditions in America today, and are at the root of so many of our social ills. Kindness—not shame—is the key to growth and long-lasting healing. We will tell you the truth, but we will always allow you to maintain your dignity, and in the process, we will teach you to take charge of your life and become the person who you were always meant to be.

Our Philosophy

The philosophy at Oro House recovery is rooted in our Compassionate Care Model® of addiction treatment. This is the opposite of the traditional and ineffective ‘behavior modification’ model that treats addiction patients with contempt and coercion, with its strict focus on compliance. As such, the entire team at Oro House Recovery Centers is encouraged and trained to treat every client with dignity, authenticity, and respect. This approach is highlighted in a set of principles that guide our daily activities.

“People will typically be more enthusiastic where they feel a sense of belonging and see themselves as part of a community than they will in a [place] in which each person is left to his own devices.”

Non-Judgemental
Loving Support

Oro House is a non-judgmental drug and addiction treatment center. We meet every client ‘where they’re at’ and never assume that we know what’s best for them.

It is only through a co-equal dialogue that the best treatment plans are developed. We empower our clients by providing a nurturing, loving, and supportive rehabilitation environment for them to learn what they need to learn to transform their lives and, in the process, the lives of their families.

The idea is to build a closely-knit community that offers a sense of belonging and comfort.

We are All in This Together
The Parallel Process

At Oro House, we promote the ‘Parallel Process’—which is an approach where we practice what we preach by holding ourselves accountable to the same principles we nurture in our clients.

In line with our belief that we are all in this together, Oro House advocates for a community-based program that encompasses everyone—including our staff.

Our leading by example encourages and inspires our clients to challenge their growth and connect to their passions.

A ‘Doing’ Treatment Facility With Proactive and Practical Skills

One of our main ambitions is to to help our clients learn the power of compassion – both to understand ourselves compassionately, but especially others.

Building positive relationships with our loved ones is the central goal. We teach each of our clients to take responsibility for their lives and discover their true being, rather than giving them prepackaged solutions.

We offer effective hands-on guidance and experiential therapeutic activities to discover practical life skills that will help our clients overcome problem areas and lead better lives.

Our Approach

Our addiction treatment approach follows the central tenets  of the Compassionate Care Model®. We create an environment that addresses the sense of disconnection and alienation that is so prevelant in our society today, and hinders addicted people from thriving, experience meaning or feeling fulfilled. This is only possible through individualized care that looks at each client’s unique circumstances and underlying issues, their story, instead of simply treating textbook symptoms of addiction or mental health issues.

By appreciating the uniqueness of each client and understanding that there are multiple paths to a sustainable recovery, we are better positioned to thoroughly address the nature of the substance use disorder. And since there is no one-size-fits-all treatment for addiction, we offer a wide range of options and treatment modalities to improve their outcome.

Our treatment programs are a blend of evidence-based practices such as Cognitive and Dialectical Behavioral Therapies, in addition to a wide range of holistic-based therapies, such as Mindfullness and Somatic Experiencing.

The multiple levels of treatment at Oro House are managed by a compassionate and highly qualified team of medical experts and clinical psychologists—who together have a combined experience of over 675 years.

Our team embraces each client as part of the Oro House community and guides them throughout their recovery journey. We empower you to overcome the challenges or trauma in your past, helping you transition to the best version of yourself and learning how your experience can be a tool with which to deepen your compassion and your ability to help others to heal from theirs.
