Alo Recovery Centers is a holistic addiction treatment center. But what exactly is holistic addiction treatment?
When something is referred to as holistic in a medicinal sense, it means it is “characterized by the treatment of the whole person, taking into account mental and social factors, rather than just the physical symptoms of a disease.”
At Alo House, we view addiction as a disease that is intimately interconnected with every part of our lives. It’s not enough to treat addiction as an isolated issue.
In reality, substance use disorders develop out of a profound sense of disconnection, and they often coexist with other mental health disorders.
To properly treat addiction we must treat all existing disorders and work to heal the contributing factors that caused the dependency in the first place. This is the only chance for recovery.
Holistic Addiction Treatment
We firmly believe that condescending and punitive addiction treatments do not work. Our holistic model embraces connection, truth, authenticity, and support. We do not talk down to our clients or use punishments as a treatment method.
From the moment a client enters our program, they are treated with compassion, respect, and dignity.
The first step of many recovery journeys is an intervention. Oftentimes, friends and family members attempt to intervene in the addiction of their loved one, ineffectively communicate the severity of disorder, and miss an opportunity to help them seek professional treatment. This is why we offer intervention services.
The staff at Alo House is trained to connect with those who are suffering from addiction in a way that will help them understand their need for treatment. It is our goal to offer support, encouragement, and guidance as they make the transition into a recovery program.
Detoxification, the process in which drugs and alcohol leave the body, is not considered to be a treatment for addiction — it is a necessary step. Detox without proper treatment afterward is ineffective and typically results in relapse. Once detox is complete, the real work can begin.
Detox is done on-site at Alo House in a six bedroom home with 24 hour care. Staying true to our holistic approach to recovery, we treat each client as an individual and tailor their treatment accordingly to ensure maximum comfort.
Detox is the first step in all addiction treatments and it is our goal to set a positive tone by making it as pain-free as possible.
Throughout this process, clients are welcome to enjoy the luxury amenities, eat chef prepared meals, and relax. Then, once detoxification is complete, we can move forward with regular programing.
One of the most important ways our holistic approach to addiction treatment comes into play is during the client assessment. After detox, all prospective clients are assessed by a qualified professional so we can create an individualized treatment program tailored to meet their needs.
Our comprehensive assessments treat all prospective clients as unique individuals and are designed to identify the symptoms and circumstances contributing to their substance use disorder, as well as identify any other existing conditions that must be treated as a dual diagnosis.
At Alo House, we believe in connection, not control®. Our holistic treatment model embraces the fact that addiction is a result of disconnection and detachment.
In all we do, we strive to connect with our clients and their loved ones, while offering support and the tools necessary to rebuild damaged relationships.
All Alo House clients receive focused case management to help them through every step of their treatment. It is our goal to help our clients fully process each step of their recovery while offering the knowledge, support, and guidance they need.
Our long-term treatment program is at the core of our holistic model of recovery. Once inpatient treatment is complete, outpatient treatment and sober living is a critical part of a successful recovery.
While in sober living, our clients continue their intensive therapeutic work, learning more advanced concepts and important tools necessary to thrive independently.
During this time, clients are able to transition back into their everyday lives while participating in treatment sessions in the evenings and on weekends.
Our holistic approach to recovery ensures we treat our clients as individuals and take the time to properly assess, diagnosis, and treat them based on their unique experiences and symptoms.
As we walk alongside our clients throughout their treatment — and even after they leave our care — we strive to provide an atmosphere of mutual respect, trust, and connection.
