Monitor the Health Status of a Client to Determine if a Transfer to Receive Urgent Care is Warranted

Before admission occurs, an Oro House staff member will complete a pre-assessment to determine if the client is appropriate for receiving care.

Each client is closely monitored and his or her vitals are checked at least every 30 minutes for the first 36 hours following admission. After the initial 36 hours, the vitals are checked three times each day for the duration of their treatment stay.

During the detoxification process, all clients are assessed daily by following the COWS or CIWA protocol as needed. If a client shows any signs of withdrawal during detox that are beyond our scope, we will arrange for the individual to receive additional appropriate medical care as necessary and recommended by our treatment team.

Detoxification and Substance Use Disorder Treatment

Detoxification and substance use disorder treatment requires a multidimensional approach of precise care coordination.

The healthcare team at Oro House Recovery Centers works in conjunction with our clients’ primary care physicians and outside providers to integrate relevant care for any conditions that have an impact on successful treatment.

Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) can be an important aspect of the residential level of care, although Oro House treatment is not considered a maintenance program.

Incidental Medical Services will be provided by physicians licensed by the medical board of California or the Osteopathic medical board who are qualified and experienced in addiction medicine.

Additional services can be provided by other health care providers under the direction of a physician while acting within the scope of their practice and license.

Oro House clients are offered pharmaceutical interventions for substance use and mental health conditions that are based on the best practices of addiction medicine, psychiatric medicine, and internal medicine.

Administer Tests Related to Drug or Alcohol Detoxification

We use a variety of testing services that are provided at the direction of the care team, physicians, and health care practitioners to successfully treat and monitor detoxification protocols.

Testing can include urine drug screen toxicology, blood alcohol content via a breathalyzer or laboratory analysis when determined to be appropriate and necessary.

Collect Medical Histories

A comprehensive assessment for each individual client is necessary for maintaining a safe environment and providing exceptional care.

During the admissions intake process, we will conduct a face-to-face Health Care Questionnaire to be reviewed and approved by a health care provider within 24-hours of the date of admission.

A physician will also complete a face-to-face IMS Certification Form. This process is necessary to ensure the highest level of clinical care at both the detox and residential levels.

Oversee Self-Administering Medications for Clients

All clients who have been prescribed any form of medication by a physician have the right to continue taking the authorized prescriptions as long as they do not conflict with our abstinence policy or impair their ability to function within the treatment program environment.

All clients who require prescription or over the counter medications will be able to self-administer such medications provided they do not conflict with required treatment protocols.

It is the philosophy of Oro House Recovery Centers that any prescriptions or medications that have a potential for abuse are contraindicated for individuals with substance use disorders.

Our constant monitoring of nurses satisfies the requirements of most insurance companies.
