A vital and necessary part of a successful recovery is proper care after inpatient treatment.
At Alo House, we encourage all of our clients to participate in an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) after they complete a residential treatment program.
Outpatient treatment is our lowest level of care, and time in an outpatient treatment varies on a case-to-case basis.
What to Expect in an Outpatient Program
The transition from an inpatient addiction treatment back into everyday life is a sensitive time for those on the road to recovery.
Once outside the parameters of a strict and regimented program, it is up to the individual to maintain their sobriety and continue their treatment.
Contrary to popular belief, the battle against substance use disorders does not end when a client is discharged from an inpatient program. In fact, some of the hardest work comes afterward.
While detox and the first weeks of treatment are not easy, the deep emotional and mental work done during outpatient treatment often results in the greatest transformation.
Substance use disorders are commonly associated with emotional roadblocks like trauma or other mental health disorders. For the most successful recovery, these issues must be acknowledged and treated.
Oftentimes, this process takes place after a client leaves inpatient care.
Once discharged from our inpatient treatment program, clients are encouraged to join a sober living community at one of our locations in the Los Angeles area.
These homes are safe, alcohol and drug-free environments that offer the benefits of community and on-site counseling.
As our clients reintroduce activities like work and school back into their lives, sober living provides access to the resources they need to thrive.
With regular group therapy and continued one-on-one sessions, the work that began while in an inpatient residential treatment program can continue, providing clients with more advanced concepts and coping mechanisms.
