We offer multiple levels of addiction treatment to best suit the immediate situations and future needs of our clients. Alo House is equipped to offer:
- Medical Detox
- Residential Treatment
- Partial Hospitalization (PHP)/Partial Residential Treatment
- Intensive Outpatient Treatment (IOP)
- Outpatient Treatment
- Aftercare Treatment
The suitable level of care is evaluated by a certified substance use professional upon entrance into our program. Once the level of care is determined, the substance use professional works with the client to design a treatment plan uniquely suited to the client’s circumstances.
Our priority is that each individual heals in a safe and comfortable environment so that they have a full and holistic recovery. We understand that substance use disorders are often rooted in multiple areas of an individual’s life, and so requires flexible, responsive attention.
Because we want to see our clients thrive in all areas of life, we have a dynamic set of evidence-based modalities to support their growth and health, including, but not limited to:
- Individual and group therapy
- Family therapy
- Substance use counseling
- Vocational counseling
- Case management
- Meditation/ Mindfulness
Foundational to our way of doing things is the belief that each person is unique, and that their addiction is similarly multi-faceted.
As such, we don’t simply treat the textbook symptoms of substance use disorder. Rather, we look at the client’s distinct history and underlying issues as they relate to their substance use. This allows us to better and more thoroughly address the actual nature of and reason for their addiction.
We have several tools that allow us to learn about and address the nature of their substance use issues, some of which are:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Mindfulness-based Therapy
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
- Art Therapy
- Experiential Therapy
- Trauma Therapy/EMDR
Our treatment methods are also based on the notion of wholeness and encompasses healing for all aspects of the client’s wellbeing. We call this Holistic Based Treatment, and this approach prioritizes:
- Therapy to support mental healing
- Physical activities to strengthen the body
- Nutritious meals to support the health of the mind and body
- Dual Diagnosis Treatment, which acknowledges and addresses underlying emotional and mental health issues
- Meditation as a non-medicinal source of relaxation
While we aren’t a 12 step treatment center, we acknowledge that 12 step programs have helped many individuals achieve sobriety.
As such, we do offer 12 step meetings and alternative 12 step meetings, in addition to our myriad of other recovery and healing-related activities.
At Alo House, we understand that there are many paths to achieving sustainable recovery, and we support our clients in choosing the best path for themselves.
Alo House offers many alternative treatment options because we believe in their efficacy and relevance.
Alternative treatment programs can empower clients to take charge of their lives and behaviors by exercising choice and experiencing their own agency, as well as showing each person their value and ability to give back to the world.
In addition, alternative programs may offer a fresh approach or perspective, rather than potentially forcing a client to return to a method that has not previously worked for them.
The methods that we offer can show clients that there really aren’t any insurmountable obstacles between them and their recovery, or between them and a good, sustained, and sober life afterward.
Last, our methods equip us to recognize dual diagnosis, also known as a co-occurring disorders.
Dual diagnosis ensues when an addiction coincides with another mental health issue like:
This can make recovery complex, given that both issues must be treated conjointly to ensure a balanced and successful recovery. Despite the added complexity of dual diagnosis, it is much more effective to recognize the presence of a dual diagnosis rather than assuming the addiction doesn’t coincide with other conditions.
RESIDENTIAL AND OUTPATIENT PROGRAMS
The appropriateness of residential versus outpatient programs depends on the circumstances of the individual client.
For some, it may be more constructive to be immersed in a new, supportive environment for them to effectively recover.
Beyond that, they may need to separate from their home and the lifestyle they’ve been living. This is called residential treatment and includes the residential level of care.
This higher level of care is best suited to those currently using drugs or alcohol, and who will require a more extended period of supervision to safely interrupt and intervene on the use of these substances.
Our residential program ensures that this period of cessation happens in a safe, calming facility while under supervision of a qualified team of medical experts.
In addition, it is sometimes necessary to undergo a process of detoxification prior to beginning residential treatment. Because drug and alcohol use can lead to the accumulation of toxins and dependencies in the body, the release and clearance of these accumulations is a needed starting point.
The experience of detoxification can range from being quite uncomfortable to dangerous, and so it is always recommended the detox be supervised by trained medical professionals.
In addition to monitoring the safety of the client, they can also address the levels of discomfort that usually come along with this important step.
Once the detox has been safely and comfortably completed, the client is able to participate in various programs, addressing the issues related to their addiction, and ultimately moving toward their recovery.
Outpatient treatment is an alternative to the residential or inpatient program and is ideal for those in Los Angeles or Malibu who would like to attend our facilities during the day and return to the comfort of their own homes at night.
For example, the outpatient treatment program might be convenient for young adults who regularly work or attend school, or for individuals who need to continue working while participating in treatment.
The outpatient program makes it possible for them to participate in their routines while receiving treatment simultaneously.
Our outpatient treatment programs are provided to the individual by a licensed and certified team of clinicians dedicated to the client’s growth and recovery.
Alo House is a leading Los Angeles outpatient treatment center that focuses on care and aims to minimize the risk of relapse, in order to promote sustainable sobriety.
Personalized treatment plans may include many of the following modalities, as evaluated by a certified substance use professional:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
- Motivational Enhancement Therapy
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Somatic Experiencing
- Family Behavioral Therapy
Studies show that the longer a person stays in treatment and has the support of a multifaceted team of experts, the more long-term success they will see in their recovery.
Like our other programs, the aftercare program is individualized to best meet the client’s needs.
Our comprehensive program offers many different therapies and counseling in order to assist in self-esteem building, continuing life substance-free, and living joyfully in recovery.
The aftercare program is also tailored around the client’s day-to-day life, so that the program itself remains supportive and sustainable.
Some aftercare offerings can include meditation, yoga, acupuncture, and equine therapy, and may also include group and individual counseling, education and vocational counseling for help with school or work, and housing assistance.
