Rudy Lugo-Rios, PsyD
Dr. Rudy is a Psychologist and an Adjunct Professor of Psychology at his alma mater. He was born in Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico, and immigrated to California in childhood. Dr. Rudy received his Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Master of Science in Clinical Psychology, and Doctorate of Psychology from California Lutheran University.
Dr. Rudy holds specializations in and experience working with children, adolescents, and families, positive psychology, psychological assessments, in-patient psychiatric units, culture-bound difficulties, immigration issues, addiction and trauma focused treatments, and primary care settings, including oncology, hematology, bariatrics, and general family medicine units and palliative care team.
Dr. Rudy has worked in a variety of locations including Ventura County Behavioral Health community mental health clinics, the Ventura County Medical Center, the Child and Family Guidance Center, as an In-Home Behavioral Consultant for children with social deficits.
Dr. Rudy teaches a variety of topics at his alma mater, including psychotherapy and counseling, integrative and primary care psychology, research methods and statistics, and child and adolescent development and psychology.
He strongly believes in the benefits of integrating the multiple aspects of people’s lives to address core issues and bring balance and relief to the overstrained modern mindset. Moreover, Dr. Rudy is a strong proponent of the belief that value systems learned from within family and social systems play exceptionally large roles in the path towards mental health.
