Here’s the thing about recovery: you can see through the bullsh*t. The staff at Oro House Recovery really care. Even when I was at a point in my life when I didn’t care about myself, I had a support system of people behind me who really wanted me to succeed. Thank you Oro House!

I am an alumni of Alo, four years ago I regained my life in ways and never thought possible. I know many people that have gone through numerous inpatient treatment centers, and each of them will attest to the fact that Alo is hands down the best in the country. I honestly, from the bottom of my heart owe them my life, and teaching me how to love my myself, which is the root cause of addiction.

Oro House is a one of a kind treatment center. The one-on-one attention & care received at Alo is unlike anywhere else. The staff deeply cares about the clients and meets clients exactly where they are at. Besides the incredible accommodations, Alo is a place clients feel safe and comfortable in an otherwise somewhat uncomfortable journey of getting sober. I can not recommend this treatment center enough.

Alo is outstanding when it comes to drug and mental health treatment. If I wouldn’t have gone back there for a second time I wouldn’t be where I am at today. The staff is all exceptionally caring and friendly, always willing to reach a hand out and help you if you are willing to ask. I highly recommend giving this place a try if you are stuck in a dark place. I have never been done wrong by Alo and I have not had that experience with other places I have went. I thank this place for everything they did, I still try to stop by and say hello. Love this place

Oro House is unlike any other recovery center – most significantly, it is NOT a business, nor is it run like one! Alo saved my life and I will forever be grateful for what turned out to be one of the best experiences of my life.

In looking for the best place with and for our daughter, we wanted a residence that was serious in its approach by insisting on a zero tolerance approach, while at the same time combining a compassionate and welcoming atmosphere with all the right support. Oro House, through the personal and caring involvement of its owners, proved to be exactly the right combination of both.

It was a great environment to be in in my early sobriety. The staff really helped integrate me into a productive and happy lifestyle. I would recommend this to a friend. Excellent location, top-notch service. It's just one of those places that isn't age-specific, and has something for everyone, in terms of location and activities offered. And everyone who works there is super caring, and love what they do! Other than that, the house is REALLY nice, very well furnished, very comfortable. Gives you that ‘home' kind of feeling. The house is full of love! Even though I'm an alumni, I still frequently visit and keep in contact with the people who I made connections with during my stay.

I have been involved with Oro House in a number and capacities, and most importantly, I trust them. They walk the talk. They care about their clients, they create a safe home with structure, fun, caring and very capable staff. They are not punitive, but they have rules and boundaries that promote long-term recovery. They go above and beyond to be of service to their clients, and are real people you can relate to. I've worked with many people and places in the Southern California recovery community, and I wouldn't send a person seeking treatment anywhere else but Oro House.

At first, I was hesitant to move into a sober living. However, I quickly felt comfortable and at ease living at Oro House. The staff and current clients made me feel like I was part of a family, rather than just a resident living in the house. I saw how active and full of life everyone was, which provided me with a great incentive to stay sober. I kept prolonging my stay at Oro House, and lived at the house a total of nine months! Every month got better and better; and I got stronger and stronger. I built a great network of sober friends and had a tremendous amount of help transitioning back out into the world on my own. It truly is a really special place; and I am so blessed to have found it.

If you are reading this testimonial, know that I feel a profound compassion for you. Being the mother of an addict, I know what it feels like to have your heart broken and feel pain you never knew existed. Our daughter went to a highly acclaimed, world renowned rehabilitation center out of state. We were quickly educated on all of the different scenarios that can and or will happen when your ‚loved one' leaves the structure of rehab. The single most important thing is their transition into ‚real world' as a sober person. After trying several sober living environments for our daughter ‚ all of which failed ‚ we found Oro House. It is hard to put into words the emotions and the intense joy we have experienced with Oro House over the past five months. Evan and Jared are doing it right. We felt that if our daughter had the chance to become healthy ‚ mind, body & soul ‚she could make a decision of what kind of life she wanted for herself. The close working relationships Oro House Recovery Centers has with the professional community in and around Malibu have been instrumental in helping her navigate her way into a healthy, happy, sober lifestyle. Evan and Jared understand that in order to embrace a sober lifestyle, you need to be balanced in mind, body & soul. They beautifully orchestrate this thru the use of SOBER FUN, healthy eating, therapy, meetings and being involved on a daily basis with each of the residents.Evan and Jared, and all staff members, lead by example. They truly care and invest the time to get to know all of the residents. The most remarkable thing about Oro House, and the thing that raises it to a level of its own, is the sense of family felt by ALL.I can honestly say that our family has grown and Oro House will always be a part of us.

We have been down a long road, finally settling in with Oro House. Before, my son was just a number. It was very stressful and frustrating to keep track of my son and be assured of his well being. The minute I started communicating with Oro House, I was amazed. They seem to care about my son as much as I do. Whether through texts, phone or email, I receive immediate response to my questions. All of my concerns are taken care of, as Oro House mentors my son Orong. The most amazing thing about Oro House is that staff immediately got to know my son on a personal level, and created a plan for him at the house to encourage him and give him something to live for ‚ in his case, allowing him to create things at the house where his interests and talents are, giving him a reason to wake up in the morning, allowing him to help others using his talents, working on positive progression during his healing process.Because Oro House is a small facility, everyone interacts as a family. Bonds have been created that will last a lifetime for my son. And finally, I need to mention that that the actual facility is unbelievably beautiful ‚Äî clean inside, well manicured lawns overlooking the ocean! Anyone would be lucky to live there.Thank you so much for appearing in our lives. Oro House is the reason that I can now sleep at night, knowing my son is a part of your family, under your care.

From the first time I contacted Oro House, I felt supported and cared for. Evan, co-owner, and the Intake Director, guided me through the process on how to get to treatment from the other side of the country. Even over the phone, they were warm and kind and I knew I was making the right decision. The properties are gorgeous. The groups are fabulous. The therapists and staff truly care about you and your well-being. I was at their sober living house for approximately 3 months and the experience challenged me and helped me to see things about myself that have been essential in my recovery. After attending Oro House, I have the most sober time since 2009 when I first attempted sobriety. After being a chronic relapser for 5 years, I finally feel like I have a strong footing in my recovery. From equine therapy, to spending time with the animals at Big Heart Ranch, outings to the Self-Realization Temple with resident meditation and spirituality guide — Jaymee, hiking trips, sharing amazing meals together…I remembered that a sober life can truly be fun and rewarding. And that the relationships I build in recovery are the most authentic and rewarding relationships I will ever have.As an only child who never had much family, I can say that Oro House is family. These people are amazing and truly care about YOU. You are not just a number or dollar signs. The sense of community is absolutely amazing and I will always hold my experience at Oro House and the people I met there dear to my heart.Best decision I ever made. Hands down.

In working with the addiction population over the last four years, I have seen a lot of treatment environments. Oro House stands out amongst the rest because it offers non-judgemental acceptance, communication, and community. This creates a safe environment for clients to integrate back into the world with confidence and support. Furthermore, the owners play a major role in the successful operation of the program. They take clients on many real life adventures, from hiking in the Santa Monica Mountains to experiencing Cirque Du Soleil for the first time‚ Oro House is a great choice for anyone serious about transforming their life.

Oro House has continued to work closely with me when it comes to treatment plans and case management, which has been a necessary factor in achieving long term success. My stay at Oro House was life-changing. The staff and fellow clients had created a strong family-like bond, which they instantly welcomed me into. The dedication of the staff helped me to form an enthusiastic and motivated view of not only my recovery, but also my life. If I ever needed advice or direction, they were there. The foundation created in treatment was solidified by the positive environment and acceptance I encountered during my stay at Oro House by the Sea. I am truly grateful for that experience.

When I came to Oro House, I was a broken soul. It seemed like everywhere I went I was shortly rejected and misunderstood. I remember the first night I met Jared and Evan. As soon as I walked onto the Oro House property, I felt a sense of safety and serenity as they showed me around their beautiful house. Every day at Oro House was a spiritual awakening like I've never had at any other time of my life. In my humble opinion, the spiritual journey that you will find yourself walking every day wile at Oro House is going to be one that will change your life completely for the better. I now wake up every day happy and sober. My relationship with my family is completely healed and stronger than it has ever been and my life is so big. I love Oro House and I give them my highest recommendations to anyone.

Oro House will always be my home away from home. The meals and food are amazing. We were fed very well! We got to experience our daily lives with a full support system in place, and a very positive vibe that makes you want to succeed in sobriety. The house is fun and active, and has a strong sense of community. I particularly enjoyed hiking and paddle boarding. Being right on the beach, there were always plenty of beach days. Once a week, we held male/female groups to check in. The morning meditation reading was a great way to jump start the day! We loved to do everything together. From going as a group to meetings, going to dinner as a family, we were always having fun!!!Evan and Jared are amazing men, who are there for anybody, at any time of the day or night. they are great influences, and a joy to be around. I can't speak highly enough of my time at Oro House!

We feel so lucky that our daughter found Oro House. Learning about addiction and what it takes to get sober is one thing. Discovering how to practice sobriety, no matter what, in the real world out there, is another – and this is where Oro House does such an impressive job. Our sense is that Oro House provides a healthy, loving family situation, full of compassion and without judgement. From the moment our daughter came to Oro House, we felt sure she was in a safe space to continue her recovery — and we have only become more and more certain of that, the more we learn. Evan and Jared clearly take each person from exactly where they are, and create an individualized path — an environment with just enough support and just enough challenge — so that each member gets what they need to make the transition to a clean and sober life. We, as parents, feel tremendously comforted by the sense of well-being and serious progress we feel from our daughter.

I have incredibly fond memories of Oro House. I arrived a slightly depressed, very miserable and incredibly guilty about what I have put my family through. Fast forward a few weeks, and I am not depressed ,I am looking forward to the future with some confidence and feeling better than I have in years. I embraced the program for the first time ever, and accept my lot in life. It is what it is, and I now have choices. I feel that the staff and owners all lead by example, and for me, that was so much more powerful than what I have experienced in rehab, which I always wanted to do my way. Perhaps I was just ready to change. I often thought I could have just rented a house and done it myself, but then I remembered, I have tried that so many times, unsuccessfully. I needed whatever it is Oro House provided, and that something is really special ‚ I miss my room which was a real haven for me.

The chemical dependency field, whether sober living or residential treatment, is filled with so many recovery choices. Many offer luxury living — all the bells and whistles imaginable. With all these choices, what is vital and important can get lost. Oro House is the diamond in the rough. Its owners, Evan and Jared, have a vision, and not just one, they have a unique individualized vision for each person that walks through their doors. Their approach encompasses seeing the whole person and their potential. With this vision, they create a recovery community that loves each individual back to health and happiness. They know what is important, and when you meet them, you remember also.

All treatment centers are not created equal. All I know this from the painful experiences of my daughter. I am so grateful for Oro House. My daughter describes it as a peaceful home with an extended family who will cry with her when she hurts and celebrate with her when she succeeds. It's not just a business to these folks; the owners and staff are personally committed to each individual's recovery. We are blessed to be part of this home where Rachel has the structure, compassion and emotional support she needs as she builds a wonderful new life as a sober young woman.

How does one begin to put into words the gratitude and copious amounts of respect for the human beings that are responsible for giving me the tools for giving me my life back? Not easily‚I remember the day that I e-mailed Evan. I was sitting in my car in an underground garage and just swallowed a bunch of benzos. I was using meth heavily, drinking like a sailor, and swallowing pills daily that I didn't know what milligram they were, or even what they were half of the time. He e-mailed me back within 10 minutes.I had been researching different rehabs up and down the coast, and had received call backs; the ups and downs with that very uncomfortable‚ Oh you can't afford the 30k up front? Good luck!” speeches they all gave. Clearly not caring about my well-being and mental state of mind. I was feeling hopeless. There are not enough adjectives to describe the impending doom looming above my life. The thunderous rain cloud following me around literally wanted to take my life. I knew it was serious. I knew I was running out of time. I was overwhelmed with the sense that my inner demons wanted me dead. I was killing myself, and at a rapid pace.Evan didn't treat me like a number. They took my insurance, and worked with me financially. He treated me like a human being that was suffering. He instantly identified and could relate with my story of loss, and heartache, and urged me to come right away.Just hang in there, until you get here. he said.I packed a few days later, and arrived on a Tuesday night. I was greeted by Jaymee. I am so thankful for this force of spirituality to have been the first person I met at Oro House. He knew by looking at me that my spirit was broken, my belief system shot, and that I needed to feel safe and mend‚as a whole. As an addict, the drugs are probably 1/3 of the issues. Oro House knows better than to shove the big book down your throat and say that's it, that's the answer to everything. The intake process is a few days long because they actually listen and adhere to your core issues. They want you to recognize why you're using, and attack those issues first hand. Numbing the pain is the easy part. It's doing the hard work of actually shifting through the pain that people often avoid, and end up back to numbing the pain with drugs and alcohol. Within a few short days, I knew I found a gem of an establishment. I felt lucky to be there, and dove in head first. The work was not easy, and the therapists are not run of the mill. I want to extend my utmost thanks to my therapists Judy Waters, Suzi Landolphi, and Billy Stewart. These people changed my life. I am forever grateful. Needless to say, I had a resume of issues to sort through, and for the first time in my life I was not ashamed or in denial about that. Between the horse therapy, the EMDR, the extensive PHP, IOP, and aftercare services offered, I was able to continuously move forward with my life. They instilled in me that the journey of recovery is a tremendous one, and I would not be Orone for one second of it. True to their word, I was never once Orone.Oro House is different. The staff is different. I can honestly say that these people are doing something pretty unheard of in the recovery world, and I am so blessed to have been a client. Bob Forrest would come and talk to us often about his views and ideas in changing the face of recovery, and it's exciting to watch it take place. It does work, it is entirely up to you, but it absolutely IS POSSIBLE. It's like Rock and Roll, beach vibes, mixed with some crazy horse therapy. Whatever it is, there certainly is no label, but it's brilliant. Oro House saved my life. I am currently working for a treatment facility in the billing realm, behind the scenes of it all, but I get to hold myself accountable everyday being in the recovery setting.I am writing this while looking out of my office window at my ocean view. Pretty stunning, none of which would have been possible without the gifts Oro House gave me. And continue to give me. Thank you. From my heart to yours.”

Oro House gave me the love I thought I didn't deserve until I learned to love myself. With a lot of help from Evan, I was able to go from being a homeless couch surfer in Los Angeles on Suboxone maintenance to a client living in one of Oro House's beautiful homes in Malibu overlooking the ocean. The staff, therapists, and owners made sure I was as comfortable as possible, as they did with my peers, the other clients. They helped make arrangements for me to detox off the Suboxone safely and held my room for me while I did so.Oro House did not just provide a safe environment for me to build a foundation for my recovery from alcohol and drug dependence; Oro House was my home while the staff and other clients felt like family. Oro House met client's needs individually, helping all of us get what we needed. Sometimes that meant refusing my unhealthy wants, but in the long run it was all for the best; as left to my own devices, I tend to self-destruct.Not only was Oro House an extremely safe environment with a beautiful atmosphere, it was a lot of fun. It showed me how getting sober and starting the process of recovery doesn't mean that life has to be boring and mundane. If i hadn't had fun, i would have left immediately. Instead, I often laughed until I was in pain, had so much fun with hikes, surfing, Big Heart Ranch, BBQ's, bond fire's, and outings that I often forgot about the worldly worries and troubles while I was captured in the moment.I had been trying to get sober for years before becoming a client of Oro House. I had gone through treatments all across the nation, but couldn't seem to put some time together or build a solid foundation for my recovery. The timing of my arrival at Oro House couldn't have been more divinely executed, I was done. I couldn't go on abusing drugs and alcohol, but I didn't know how to live without them nor did I know how to stop. We all have our own journey's, but if you're done, I believe Oro House is one of the best treatment centers in the nation that can help you find your way. Whether it's through 12 step programs, which have a booming community in Southern California, or alternative methods, Oro House is a safe, fun, loving, and beautiful environment to start the journey.Oroha”

Words can't express my gratitude to Oro House. When I think about the people that have literally helped to save my daughter's life, I think of our friends at Oro House. From day one and my first conversation with Evan, I felt really blessed to feel so much empathy, understanding and love. Thank you for that Evan.I was so incredibly relieved to know that my daughter was in good hands. More importantly, she has grown to love the Oro House family as her family. It didn't start out that way, but by the grace of God, something seemingly impossible in the natural happened. She had been in detox for nearly a week at another facility when we found Oro House. They made all the arrangements to pick her up from detox. Literally 30 minutes before the pickup time, my daughter called me and said she wasn't going. My heart sunk. I knew she was still sick and headed for life-threatening trouble. I don't know how he did it, or what he said, but somehow Jaymee talked her into not only leaving with him, but staying at Oro House once she arrived. To me, he's an earth angel, and I will never forget everything he has done for my daughter. It was nothing short of divine intervention and brings tears to my eyes.My daughter really thrived in the group sessions. I absolutely cherish the pictures I have of her from rock climbing and hiking activities. She looks so ALIVE. And she loved the equine therapy with the horses. She was able to do some volunteer work and community service on the ranch which really gave her a sense of well being and built up her self esteem. Priceless to recovery. As a Mom that will never give up trying to help my daughter, I am so grateful to Evan, Jaymee, Jared, Bob, Susie, the therapists and the entire staff at Oro House for never giving up on my daughter, loving her, and for everything they do to help people in recovery. How could I ever thank them? With all my heart. If you or someone you love is struggling with addiction, turn to Oro House. With deep love and gratitude.

I came to Oro House with little to no hope, having been severely beaten down by a devastating relapse. I felt like I had used up all my chances, burnt every bridge and that I didn't even deserve to be in a treatment center. I connected with a few select staff members who believed in me before I could believe in myself. These people knew my story and generally cared. As the description of Oro House states, I felt that authentic care that we were all on the same journey- just at different points Orong the way.Jared and Evan are both so personable and were always willing to take time to personally help with anything I had going on. When I came into Oro House, I didn't know what my life was going to look like at the end of my stay. It didn't happen quickly, but I eventually formulated a plan of what I wanted to do after treatment and that became a reality because I remained patient and open to suggestions from the staff. By the end of my stay, I was surrounded by a family who genuinely cared for my well being and wanted me to live a sober, joyous life. That being said, I was desperate and scared to death. I was willing to take suggestions, listen, go to meetings etc. No treatment center is going to get an alcoholic/ addict sober. Oro House can give all of the direction/ suggestion to get and stay sober but if someone is not willing to let go of old thinking and ideas, long term sobriety is not likely. If you are serious about getting sober and changing your life, I highly recommend Oro House.

Thank you isn't enough for the exceptional care my son received while undergoing treatment at Oro House. My son bounced around from center to center trying to get help for his addiction. He was labeled as someone with good insurance looking for a place to stay with hot meals. Oro House reached out not only to my son's addiction but to him as a person. They treated my son as if he was one of their own. They counseled him, encouraged him and most of all believed in him. While my son was receiving treatment at Oro House, my husband had died unexpectedly. Oro House went above and beyond to help not only my son but my family as well during this difficult time. We ended up losing our health insurance soon after my husband's death and Oro House worked with us so that care was continued and not interrupted.Today I am happy to report that my son has been sober and free of his addiction 7 months out of treatment.”

I'm the parent of a young addict whose struggles have been heartbreaking, and I know that we're among many. My son had been to at least five treatment centers before a friend recommended (and took him to!) Oro House. I fear that he had almost given up hope. With crossed fingers, I can now say that he's approaching a year sober and has a job (in recovery) that he loves. Much of his progress is due to the commitment, friendship, and optimism of owners Jared and Evan, who lead their attendees as companions. They also pick their staff with great care and attention. The people at Oro House became my son's friends, supporters, and family in recovery. I will be eternally grateful.

Having personally been through most of the substance abuse recovery programs in Malibu, I can say without question that Oro House is by far the best.  Oro House provides clients with some of the most intelligent and compassionate therapists in the industry. These therapists communicate with clients on a  personal level, making you feel supported and cared for. In addition, a variety of therapy groups, such as Equine Therapy and EMDR, are included in the programming, which makes it a very holistic and comprehensive treatment. All of this, coupled with the fact that Oro House provides a terrific healing atmosphere and the finest amenities on the shores of Malibu, California, makes it the ONLY treatment center I would recommend if you are looking to achieve long-term healing and sobriety.

Although this may sound like a cliche I mean it from the depths of my heart that Oro House is an amazing facility that helped me get my life back. There are not enough words to express how grateful I am to their staff for all that they have done for me. The staff was incredibly professional and empathetic towards me and gave me the care I needed to better myself. Not only is the staff wonderful, but the milieu or environment, is truly therapeutic. I have been to a multitude of facilities, and Oro House was by far the most beneficial. They helped me piece my life back together after I hit rock bottom and the gratitude I have for them is never ending. Oro House's staff has helped me gain a new perspective on life and I truly appreciate all that I have and what is right in my life. I now live my life to fullest and give back to those who need help in my community. Every morning when I wake up I know that through their care and commitment Oro House has given me a second chance to live my life in the best way possible. If I had to rate this facility on a scale from 1-5 I'd give it a 10 because this is truthfully the best place I have ever been. I recommend Oro House to anyone and everyone that is enduring a difficult time in their life because I know that it will be as healing an experience for them as it was for me due to Oro House's excellent staff and community.
